Velkommen til FSKY — Your Source Engine Home Since 2005!

Welcome to the FSKY home page!

Who Are We and What Do We Do?

We are a small server hosting company that started out helping Valve Software build worlds that actually felt alive. From 1999 to 2003 we had a short but awesome partnership with Valve Software — they wanted to make Half-Life 2 feel realistic. We wanted it to feel alive. So together we created something we call: Dynamic Non-Playable Characters. AI that could wander, learn, react, and make every map feel like its own little breathing world.

Each of them has their own little story to tell, accompany the player on their missions, and make the world feel like it truly breathes on its own. We originally created this advanced AI for citizens so they would walk around, react to you, and turn quiet streets into living scenes. Get scared near dangers, and move so realistically that the old NPCs from your favourite games feel like blank dummies. That is what our technology is.

Valve created something that was never possible outside of a Hollywood studio — their materials, special effects, and rendering technology made a true revolution. Bones, movement systems, facial expressions — this is what made the game special and gave life to our tech.

Then 2003 happened. Unfortunately, due to limitations in technology, the financial situation Valve was dealing with at the time, and major leaks caused by some users, we were unable to fully utilise the potential of our technology. Our vision was getting a bit too ambitious — and honestly, a bit too expensive — for what the tech and budget could handle back then. So we shook hands and wished each other luck.

However, the story doesn't end there. We managed to make a clean deal: Valve Software was kind enough to let us continue experimenting, which meant we could keep using the Source Engine — but anything we built with it could only go public after the release of their magnum opus. Fast forward a bit, and here we are. It finally becomes reality.

Our server hosting utilises the infrastructure we embedded inside this engine years ago, which allows us to create these wonderful small worlds for our community — where people like YOU can experiment and have fun!

Most of our tools initially started as internal tools we designed and used during our brief partnership, such as MakeFace, GRIS, and SourceBox. But they grew into the development suite you can purchase on our website right now!

Our hosting lets you do anything you like. Want to play deathmatch? No problem — hop on the deathmatch server and go for it! Or maybe you want to build a quiet street, spawn a bunch of DMNPCs, and watch them start moving, learning, wandering, fighting, or just living their little lives. Yes — even that is possible, especially thanks to our Development Toolkit. You could even invite your friends, mess with behaviours, and save the scene to preserve it for others thanks to our Ordinance system!

Build your scenes in GRIS and Hammer, push them to the server with SourceBox, and suddenly your friends are walking into a world that feels like it was waiting for them. This is a true sandbox full of possibilities. And we're proud of it.
